Online poker goes to the movies

Of course, the concept of marrying movies and card games is not a new one. Hollywood has often used the casino atmosphere as a setting - just look at The Sting and just about any James Bond film for evidence yet, these all show that the direction of influence has changed.

Film is big business and thanks to a new deal, soon classics such as The Good, The Bad and The Ugly starring Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood (pictured above) could be turned into terrific online poker games.

In the past poker was used in films, but now the latest poker news say that films are used in poker.

And not just any kind of poker the significant change is that mainstream cinema could be married to online poker.

Thanks to this deal, famous old titles including Fame, Stargate, Robocop and â€˜spaghetti westerns including A Fistful of Dollars and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly could all soon be reinvented and turned into versions of online poker games.

Clint Eastwood once famously asked, "Do you feel lucky?" But the real question is: 'Should films and games be merged together or should they remain two separate entities?' This is a debate that can go on far into the future.

But whether this move proves to be successful or not remains to be seen. But Fremantle is a company that has a knack of creating smash hits. Fremantle is the company behind TV shows including The Price is Right and The X Factor, both of which have been turned into online games.

FremantleMedia Gaming (FM Gaming) will develop a selection of MGMâ€™s film and television brands into games for operators and players outside of the US. â€œOur ambition is to become a leading publisher of branded games in this exciting market," said FremantleMedia head of ventures Paul Kanareck, "and weâ€™re now investing further into the online gaming sector.

They certainly seem to have big ambitions and it looks like the phenomenon of online poker continues to expand and become even more mainstream. The lines between entertainment and gaming continue to be blurred and perhaps using big name movies in poker could create even bigger jackpots.
