The World Poker Tour, WPT, is the second largest poker event in the world and tours across America and Europe. It runs for a full year, with the season usually running from April to the following May.

Grading the event descriptions and coverage on the site..

The WPT is one of the most prestigious poker tournaments in the world and was founded in 2002 by television producer Steven Lipscomb. Most of the events are Texas Hold'em and with over 15 destinations visited over the year, the WPT is the closest thing poker has to playing a sports season.
Qualification:

Buy-ins usually range from $2,500 to $25,000 but aside from paying the fees and registering with the casino in which you intend to play, there are no other qualification specifications.

With season seven finishing a few months ago, new names on the scene include Steve Brecher, winner at the Shooting Star Bay 101 event and Kassem Deeb, who donated half of his $1 million winnings to charity.
