The WSOP was founded in 1970 in Las Vegas by Jack Binion, and is now owned by Harrahs Entertainment. The very first series of WSOP had just seven players, but it is now consists of 55 events over a two month period. WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack has announced that the latest WSOP will be adding some more destinations to its tour, as well as being staged in its Las Vegas home.
Qualification:
To enter into the WSOP you need to qualify through poker tournaments run by various online poker rooms, and pay the buy-in, which ranges from $500 to $50,000. The winner of each tournament gets one of the coveted WSOP bracelets.

WSOP has hosted and produced thousands of poker pros over the years, the most recent star to emerge being young 22-year-old Peter Eastgate, winner of last years series. Most pros now receive sponsorship from the online poker index rooms, who pay their buy-in and kit them out in all their logoed gear.
