Not a true poker movie with a silly story. The story is slow and overall the movie doesn't makes any sense. It has got poker only in its title and nowhere else in the movie. It's better to run away from Poker Run.

The movie Poker run is a thriller story about two guys Allan and Robert. They both are Lawyers by profession and have been doing very well in their fields but they are undergoing very boring time of their life. They are caught up in their house problems, wives, car problems and debt. They want to add some adventure to their lives so they decide to purchase of Harley Davison Bikes. They are having a fantasy that the rich urban bikers have a very good life, but soon their fantasies crushes down when they get caught up with two psychopaths Ray and Billy. They kidnap Allan's and Robert's wives forcing them to follow their instructions if they wish to see their wives alive.

Comments

Although the name of the movie is Poker run, it does not show the game poker anywhere. Poker is a type of gambling so the motive of keeping such title possibility might be showing the gambling of life. But the movie could not justify its title at any point. Moreover the story is not unique.

A "Poker Run" is normally a charity event where participants travel a route (in this case, by motorcycle) making stops along the way (normally a bar). At each stop participants receive one card from a regular deck of playing cards. Whomever has the highest hand at the last stop is the winner. In the movie, the RUB's stop at the first bar of the event, sign-up and receive a card. They've also met up with Ray and Billy whom they ride with to the next bar where they get more cards. After Robert gets in a fight at that bar, the RUB's talk it over and decide to abandon the poker run and ride into the desert with Ray and Billy.
So, there is poker in the movie. A classic Motorcycle Poker Run which has been done for many years by many organizations. It's not sit-down-poker. Billy "Bones" Eady
