The very first movie that used good quality stereo sound. A naturalistic film very well directed, based on friendship and poker. The movie doesn't makes you feel bore any way and entertains all the way.

California split is based on the story of two friends named Bill Denny and Charlie. Their friendship is tied by a common cord of gambling. Charlie is funny guy and a skilled gambler, where as Denny is not a hard core gambler but slowly he improves and moves ahead. Danny also has a job and work for a publication. Later in the movie Bill finds himself as an addict of gambling. He owns monetary liabilities too. In the climax, Bill and Charlie play a big game in Reno, where Bill deposits his belongings so that he can win huge money through the game. Later Bill becomes the winner of $18,000, but his desire to win more stops him to leave the table. He is over powered by the confidence. He tries his hands in many other casino games like craps and blackjack which brings $82,000 as prize money.
But suddenly something works against of Bill mind and he decides to stop playing and here both the friends go to their own ways.
