In the year 1998 when Negreanu won the WSOP he was just 23 years old. It was the beginning of a flourishing poker career and since then he has never looked back. He won not only WSOP events but also many events including Omaha Hi/Lo event in 2002, $2,000 S.H.O.E. event $2,000 Limit Hold'em event for $169,000, WSOP winner again in 2004. WPT was also not untouched by Negreanu and he got marvelous success in that too. It was the year 2004 when Daniel surprised every one by winning the two consecutive tournaments in duration of 90 days only!

Very few people know about the defeats tasted by Daniel. He has lost to Quads THREE times during the first 4+ seasons of the show. Negreanu is one of the few players who has participated in all five seasons of the show, and has logged more hands on "High Stakes Poker" than anyone else. Although, it is still pretty ridiculous to consider that Negreanu has lost three BIG pots to quads during the run of the show.

Daniel's parents who hailed from Romania was looking out to get settled in USA. Finally they got the right place to spend the rest of their life in Canada. Daniel has an elder brother. The environment was quite suitable for Daniel. He was planning to be a snooker player. But perhaps was more destined to be a pro poker player. At the age of 15 years he started taking initial lessons of poker. He was regular visitor of the pool rooms till he turned to 16. He left the high school and began his life as a rounder playing at the local charity casinos, namely Casino Country, and looking for illegal games around the city. While in Toronto, Daniel met and began dating Evelyn Ng, who would also become a well-known professional poker player. After building up his bankroll, he left for Las Vegas at the age of 21 to pursue his dream of becoming a professional poker player.
